Brianna was admitted yesterday which was actually quite difficult. We arrived at 10 am like our orders from the doctor said to do but we had to argue with admissions and wait for phone calls to be made for 2 hours! Unreal! There obviously was not enough communication and we were told to go home and come back today to get admitted. I kept telling them it was scheduled for 10 am on June 5th. Then they told us to go EAT while waiting for the doctor to call them. Ummmmm…excuse me, Brianna had to stop eating on Friday! Come on people, get your s*** together! Oh I am so over this incompetence.

So we finally got a room at noon and settled in. Ahh, home sweet home – NOT! Each person has one duty so we have had something like 25 different people come in so far. And they come in every 2-5 minutes all day and night! One does vitals, one brings meds, one empties the trash, one mops the floor, one came to oil our loud door, the nurse comes to administer iv drugs, after a different person put the iv in her arm. Then there is the shift change every 12 hours which brings a different nurse and different assistant. Oh, and then there is another change of nurses baecause one was just a floater and one was needed for a spinal surgery. Ugh, my head is spinning.

Brianna is doing very well. She has to drink 16 ounces of this disgusting fluid every hour. One of her nurses said she has never known of any child who could actually do that. The other option was to insert an NG tube down her nose and throat into her stomach. Brianna was not fond of the sound of that so she is trying her best and doing well drinking, although she has been in tears twice. The drink is cleaning out her bowels in prep for her surgery tomorrow. She is going potty non-stop to the point her bottom is bleeding. Gee, do you think for $2000 per night for this room, we could have some soft toilet paper? No! Not included!

The intrusions by the minute went on all night. I finally fell asleep at God knows what time and woke to two men introducing themselves to me early this morning. No warning, just an introduction while I was sleeping! I wasn’t sure if I was dreaming or what. Then Brianna told me that the nurse was talking to her at 4 am about her dolls and things on her bed. Geez! Does anyone around here have respect for people who try to sleep? It is a totally foreign concept here. Another doctor just came in and asked me how I am. I just said “annoyed”!!!!!

They are scheduled to take Brianna at 6:30 tomorrow morning for surgery. It is a complicated one and could take up to 6 hours. We are scheduled to be here approximately 10 days. All prayers are appreciated.

All you parents out there, hug your children and appreciate that they are healthy.
